Maryland Leadership Workshops,Inc. (MLW) was founded in 1956 by Felix Simon in order to provide young people with the skills and experience they needed to be successful in school and in their community through a unique peer led approach of learning. Today,MLW is a not-for-profit educational organization that builds on our long and strong tradition of providing leadership training programs to Maryland middle school and high school students for success in school and life.
MLW has partnered with the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC) since its beginnings and has expanded our collaborations to include a successful partnership with Leadership Maryland since 2004. Over the years,MLW has received support from the Maryland State Department of Education and continues to receive a MSDE grant as part of the State-Aided Educational Institution program.
In the 56 years the organization has been in operation, more than 19,000 students have graduated from MLW’s residential programs and 100,000 participants have attended am MLW community outreach program. These graduates have consistently excelled not only with respect to their leadership development, but have enhanced the quality of,and their success in,all aspects of their lives and communities.
